Alrighty. I relocated the EdenPure heater to a bedroom corner that will combat two sources of cold air at once. Moved the bed back to its position in the center of the western wall, which freed the southern wall closets up nicely. Then I wrestled with the rotten rug under the bed. Someday I will get that behemoth out of there. The current bed frame does not have casters, so the rug protects the oak floor.

Moved the printer out of the bedroom. Vacuumed, swept in multiple places. I want the television out in the living room; need to figure that out because it's so heavy. But I got it in here. I must have used the black chair with the single broken wheel and helped it along. Fair nuff.

Time for some Nap Yoga!

Awesome

It's been quite a number of months since the computer table was in front of a window - last June, I believe. I've now moved the table back into the laundry room and I'm at the window that faces the lake. This is really nice. The moving energy feels good. Looking outside is great. (Even though it is a grey, ugly, windy, cold day.)

I will actually be colder in this room, but living all in one room is taking its toll. So, I'm spreading back out again.

Yeah, this is nice.

All is well here. Did not lose any trees, although I can't say the same for my neighbors. I have no power. Currently I am at the local McDonald's for Wifi.

Doc Martin

Finally finished Doc Martin. Really glad of the way they ended season/series five. Bummer that it's another two years before series six will be on Netflix. They are due to start filming series six in 2013. I am quite glad, though, that it will continue. And I thought the last episode of series five was totally fantastic in the way they totally spoke to the crazy frustration of watching Martin and Louisa's off and on love. Hilarious. The cast must have laughed through the final scenes too. Brilliant.

I I know two people who live in Aurora, but I haven't talked to them in years. No doubt a bunch of my customers' employees lived in Aurora, too. I remember it as a quiet, pretty little suburb between the Denver airport and the city proper.

I keep thinking of this poem:

Invictus
BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

I haven't mentioned this much, but since Bo died I've been spending hours playing "hunt and fetch the birdy" with Addy. Looking forward to the warmer weather when we can go outside. She's really enjoying all of the extra attention.

Ugh. Something about white bread makes me sick as a dog. At my folks house and I just made and ate a plain turkey sandwich. My heart is now pounding and I'm dizzy and hot, as if I had eaten a cup of ice cream or slice of pie. I forgot that since the surgery I really can't eat bread.

Geography

In the end though, I do think that I will stay here. I know that it's going to take some years to feel fully rooted here. Regular visits to Orlando (something I haven't done) would also help cure the homesickness. It would help, I think, if I met a guy here in CT. At least, that would be awesome.

Just have to give it time.

I can say, though, that the super-bright lightbulbs are fantastic. I suppose the real depression test will come this weekend when Daylight Savings Time changes over and we are plunged into darkness an hour earlier.

Rain

Starting to rain. Due to rain all day. Dark dark dark.

However. Another free day! Didn't fall asleep until about 3am, so I'm going to sleep a bit. Just took the garbage out to the street. It was really nice outside - 43F - nice and fresh and brisk air.

Quite impressed by the daylight bulbs that I picked up. For once I actually feel like the light is bright enough. I want to change over more bulbs.

Total insomnia going on. It's 3am now and I actually went to bed at 10pm!

But, I'm wide awake. Can't even blame this one on caffeine. I do feel like I'm burning up, though, which is unusual ... Although it is nearly 50F outside.

Whimsy

Could not sleep and I had some pains, so I made myself some hot Cheerios and read a few more pages in Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, my next book. But now I've turned off the light and I'm nestling back into the blankets!

Bookage

I've read/completed 60 books this year. Am not counting the books I started but decided not to finish or to finish at some future date. My goal was to read 75 books this year, so I think I am right on track to meet that. I read/finished 40 books last year.

This has been a enriching reading year, too. I have pushed myself to read a few things that I wouldn't ordinarily spend the time on and I'm glad I did.
