This I thought was a cool stat: If you were in a commercial airliner traveling at average speeds (?), it would take 2.5 hours to fly across Hurricane Sandy's diameter.

I think it's safe to say that the barrier islands of Maryland and New Jersey are being remade right now.

Things are fine here. Wind gusts and rain. Not much to report. The ocean is not receding after its high tide at 11am EDT; there's too much water blowing in and it's a peak full moon today, too. Shoreline walls were nearly breached at the 11am high tide; the high tide tonight will be - quite literally - devastating. So, we'll see what happens.
