shesingsnow: (Snow its whiteness)
I haven't even taken out my snowflake necklace!

The first storm of the year, last night's dusting:

As the adage goes, the number the day of the first snow (27, in this case) predicts the number of snowstorms that we'll have in the season.

REALLY?

Snow? Twice? In October?

"Heavy snow accumulation in October is virtually unheard of in most of Connecticut. In the greater Hartford area, measurable snow has only occurred three times in the last 100 years. Along the shoreline measurable snow has only occurred on...ce. The greatest October snowstorm in metro Hartford dropped 1.7 inches on Oct. 10, 1979. The heaviest October snowfall in Connecticut history occurred on Oct. 4, 1987 in Norfolk with 9.5 inches of accumulation." - WTNH website.

By the way, you never truly appreciate how long one's intestines are until there are a series of painfully-sized gas bubbles working their way all the way down.
